Die Hard: 4 Gallons or Death

You have a 3 gallon bucket and a 5 gallon bucket – neither have any measurement markers so all you know is that when either one of them is full, you have 3 and 5 gallons respectively.
There is a bomb (of course, why wouldn’t there be).
You can defuse the bomb if you put exactly 4 gallons worth of water weight on top of the bomb… any more or less will set it off.
Luckily the bomb is located next to a big water fountain – so you have unlimited water.
By moving water back and forth between the buckets, how can you get to 4 gallons, precisely?

Fill 3 gal, dump it in 5,
Fill 3 gal, fill up 5 (2 gal to fill up- 1 gal left in 3 gal bucket)
Empty 5 gal container
Put 1 gal left in 3 gal container in 5 gal container
Fill 3 gal container and put in 5 gal container
=4 gal

Transfer to 3gal
Empty 3gal
Dump remaining 2gal from 5gal into 3gal
Fill 5gal
Fill 3gal from 5gal
Leaving 4gal in 5galthe bucket….

Fill the daddy bucket with 5 gallons. Pour this bucket into the 3 gallon lil guy. This leaves 2 gallons in the daddy bucket. Empty the lil guy bucket and pour the 2 gallons into it.
Fill the daddy bucket again and then use that bucket to top off the remaining one gallon in the 3 gallon bucket. This leaves you with 4 gallons in the daddy bucket.
Buckets!

Yes yes and yes… all the answers above are the same and correct… BUT there is another way of doing this as well…
Fill up the 3 gallon lil guy and dump it in the 5
Do this again – but only fill the 5 up to it’s limit which will leave 1 gallon in the lil guy
Then empty the 5 gallon big guy and put the 1 gallon that’s in the lil guy into the big guy.
Fill the lil guy up to 3 gallons and pour it into the 5′er (which has 1 gallon in it) and you’re #winning.
